Teal and mustard

I love this combination of colours - it probably comes as no surprise that teal is one of my favourite colours. Last night I went to a Fashion Show*. Bearing in mind I live in a small village near a slightly larger town, I was really going along to support the charity. But, talented girl that I am, I can spend money anywhere and so I ended up buying a teal dress. Which would go perfectly with mustard. Only I am blonde, and don't own much (anything?) in mustard. Anyone got any ideas for me?

Photo of me, by me (obv) and please excuse the poor quality and poor lighting. And the fact you can see my pants drying on the rack. It was intended as a quick snap to e-mail to facebook (by popular demand I hasten to add - people wanted evidence that there was fashion to be had where I live) but I though, what the hell.

These are the only mustard coloured items I am aware of in the house at the moment. I think they would look fab in a wedding bouquet. I am not sure that a bouquet is the right look for my teal dress though...

---
* I tried to take some photos of the show but the models didn't pause for long enough and the lighting was terrible. The average age of the audience was definitely old enough to be my mother and the announcer had some strange ideas about "what all the magazines are doing" but, among the vast swathes of what can only be described as shit, were, occasional nice pieces. Like my teal dress. And the polka dot blouse with pussy bow that I am wearing today.

I'm currently having a teal and purple moment. Teal with anything does it for me really.

Beautiful dress!!! I came so close to buying a teal shirt today, but I felt like first I should go through my closet, clean it out, and figure out which items I should be going for this spring.

Maybe go for a mustard belt for the dress?

Ha! Somebody is reading the same blogs as me...

I also love this combo - I'm blonde(ish) too and soo nearly bought a full-length 1930s-esque teal silk dress in the sales recently (it's so beautiful! But you'll never wear it! But it's so beautiful!).

I also recently, against my better judgement, ordered a yellow bag and scarf from asos. Despite both being from the same site and both described as "ochre", the bag was a gorgeous sunflower yellow, while the scarf was a hideous dark mustard colour that made me look like a corpse. So, hit and miss.

Now I **REALLY** want to go shopping! I'm going to have to stop reading till I get some actual money again. Sigh.

I was thinking a skinny mustard patent belt might look nice. I might try it with the leopard print (vintage) one I have and see.

@Kirsty - who doesn't read the sartorialist and yhl?! (not sure about some of the blogs you read though :) - I followed some of your links on today's post and started reading some horrific posts... although making mental health awareness better is an excellent cause which I fully support, I was crying at my desk which is never a good thing)

also, ASOS. Never ordered anything, never dared. Maybe I'll give it a go.

agirl - I'm supposed to be off shopping too. (well, except for cars). This was too good to turn down though. I used the age old excuse that "it's for work"...

That dress is gorgeous! Well done. I love that color combo, but the only thing I have in that golden yellow is a cardigan.

I agree with the belt idea, I was also thinking shoes, or what about a headband? Ribbon to tie around your head perhaps, very simple but a splash of colour.

And the dress is wonderful, fits you perfectly plus teal is such a good colour.

I LOVE this combination, have for a while now, and I love it so much I am doing my nursery in this- we are waiting to find out the sex and I think teal and mustard are perfectly gender neutral and modern and not the typical green and chocolate that all gender neutral nurserys are! love to see that others love it too!

I have a total yellow/mustard obsession... maybe it's time to invest in some teal!

P.s. love your description of 'weird pom pom flowers' :)

That teal dress looks beautiful on you. I'm imagining if I wore it, there would be unsavoury bunching in the bum/hip area!

Update post with the mustard cardigan...?
